Introduction
The new moon in Capricorn happens halfway between eclipse seasons, which means that it will square the lunar nodes. This is a tense angle that happens every year. Eclipses act as triggers; setting the stage so that when another planet or point hits an eclipse point something goes off. The eclipses back in October coincided with significant change in the middle east. The halfway point is likely to do the same.
The new moon in Capricorn occurs on January 11, 2024 at 4:57am, MST. During an eclipse the sun and the moon will be conjunct to the nodes of the moon. When we reach the period of time that is halfway between the eclipses, the sun and moon will be square, (or 90 degrees) to the nodes. It’s very possible to see recurring themes from the eclipses come up at this time. If you were strongly affected by the eclipse that took place on October 14, 2023 the odds are strong that you’ll be affected by this lunation as well. The same can be said if you have a planet or point between 17° and 23° of Capricorn.

New Moon Chart
The sun and moon are both at 20° of Capricorn. Because the moon is in detriment in Capricorn, emotional connection will not be easy at this time. The moon always seeks tender and compassionate exchange, but in Capricorn, that exchange is preconditioned on Saturn’s approval. Long story short, this lunation feels emotionally hollow. Adding to that feeling is the loose conjunction of Pluto. Pluto sits at 29° Capricorn, so it’s not a tight aspect. This elevates the empty feeling into something closer to exploitation.
The sun and moon are in a supportive aspect to Uranus; this is usually an aspect that brings about a breakthrough or a tidy innovation. Even though the linking aspect is beneficial (a trine as opposed to a square), I’m not convinced that this won’t bring about unwelcome change. When the chart is read holistically, I think that not all of the change will be positive. Some groups will benefit more than others.
Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter are forming a minor grand trine, with Saturn at the apex. Mars, (which is exalted in Capricorn) is trine Jupiter, both of which are sextile to Saturn. The change that’s brought about by Uranus will be integrated and incorporated into long-term circumstances. The eclipse in October brought sudden change. This lunation will transform those events into something permanent and concrete.
Mundane Prediction
I think this lunation will mark a turning point in the war between Israel and Palestine. Israel is currently in a fourth house profection year, which falls in Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. For a country, fourth house matters include land and territory. At this new moon we’ll see Israel expand their settlements within Palestine, claim ownership of new territory, or possibly begin fighting on a second front. There are those in the international community that would support his change, as well as those that would see it as an aggressive escalation. Some people will welcome this development, but many others won’t.
